Our team travelled along a 400km stretch of rangeland to document how pastoralist families are adapting — that, at least, is where the story stood when this page was filed, according to the people closest to it.

Reporters on the ground filed contemporaneous notes, which were reviewed by a second editor before publication. Where figures could not be independently verified, SomTiger has said so in the text rather than attributing them to an unnamed source.

Analysts consulted for this piece disagreed on the likely trajectory over the coming months. That disagreement is reflected here deliberately: our standard is to show the range of informed views rather than to compress them into a single forecast.
