Editorial standards

1. Accuracy first

We publish what we can verify. Where a claim cannot be independently confirmed, we say so in the text and attribute it precisely rather than laundering it through vague phrasing.

2. Sourcing

Named sources are the default. Anonymity is granted only where a source faces a real risk and the information is in the public interest; in those cases we tell readers why the source is unnamed and what their vantage point is.

3. Right of reply

Anyone facing significant criticism in our reporting is given a fair opportunity to respond before publication, and their response is represented accurately.

4. Opinion is labelled

Opinion and analysis carry a clear label and are edited separately from news. Columnists write in their own voice; the Editorial Board writes the institution's view. Neither directs news coverage.

5. Images and video

We do not stage, composite or materially alter news images. Placeholder and illustrative imagery is captioned as such. Archive footage is dated in the caption.

6. Artificial intelligence

AI tools may assist with transcription, translation drafts and research triage. They do not write published articles, and a named journalist is accountable for every piece we publish.

7. Conflicts of interest

Staff declare financial interests, outside work and personal relationships that could bear on their beat, and recuse themselves where required.

8. Corrections

Errors are corrected promptly, visibly and at the top of the affected article. We do not silently amend published text. See the corrections log.

9. Complaints

Write to corrections@somtiger.com. Complaints are reviewed by an editor who was not involved in the original story.

10. This demonstration site

All articles currently published here are sample content created to exercise the site's templates. They do not report real events, and no one quoted in them is a real source.
